It's been a while, but work on the building has finally started. Here's a look at how the base stage is progressing.

Here we have the final plans after a number of changes to the Promenade 43's basic plan. The structural changes we made included,
- Changing the front "Home Theater Room" from originally being closed off to now being an open space.
- Converting the space beneath the staircase into a storage area.
- Extending the rear of the house to include a "Rumpus Room"
- Converting "Bedroom 1's" Ensuite Plan to the one on display
- Converting "Bedroom 3 and 4" to include their own Ensuites and Walk in Robes
- Extending out the "Outdoor Room / Alfresco" into what Metricon now calls the "Grand Outdoor Room"
If you don't remember, here is another look at how the plan looked originally,

What do you think?
After months of searching through countless display centers, we have finally decided to build the Promenade 43 by Metricon Homes.
We had also been interested in Porter Davis Home's Marriot 48 and Carlisle Home's Bordeaux 40 amongst a host of others. However, the Marriot would not be able to fit the 15 m frontage of our inner suburban block whilst Carlisle refused to build in the inner east.
And so it was the Promenade 43 that we chose. It was decided that this design best suited our personal requirements, as well as the limitations of the size and location of our block of land.
For those not familiar with Metricon, it is one of the largest builders of houses in Melbourne/Victoria. The Promenade 43 is one of their bigger double storey houses and is part of their Signature Collection of homes. As a result, we were able to benefit from their Wish List Promotion, which offered $40,000 worth of extras at no cost.
Below is the standard plan for the Promenade 43, although we plan to make various changes to this.
Here are some photos of the display house.
